Lammas is the festival of high summer known in the Cunning Folks calendar as the time of the Grain. It celebrates the union of Sun and Earth, of God and Goddess and their production and blessing of the first harvest - the Grain Harvest.
Lammas is a time for gathering in and giving thanks for abundance, for taking time to enter into deep gratitude for life blessings and for giving these offerings of thanks so that the perpetual cycle of giving from the Universe might be sustained.
It is also the great festival of Lugh the Celtic Sun King and God of Light to whom circle dancing was performed in his honour reflecting the movement of the sun in sympathetic magic.
Underlying this time is the knowledge that the bounty and energy of the Sun is now beginning to wane. It is a time of change and shift when active growth is slowing down and the darker days of winter and reflection are beckoning.
In this lecture we will explore the energies of this strange time and its hidden powers - entering into shared rituals of gratitude and taking a journey into the Spirit Meadow to join the round of circle dancing with the otherworld folk and ease ourself into the shifting change that occurs within us as well as the world.
The lecture will include meditations, simple ritual and live trance channelling.
